Nancy M. Lorenzi is a Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Department of Biomedical Informatics and Clinical Professor of Nursing at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, USA. She is Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs with a major focus on informatics, implementation, quality, strategy and transformation.
Dr. Lorenzi began her career at the University of Cincinnati, first as Director of Medical Center Libraries, and later as Director of Medical Center Information and Communications. She has received many honors, such as inclusion in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Marcia C. Noyes Award, the highest award from the Medical Library Association, as a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics, and a fellow of the Medical Library Association. Dr. Lorenzi is the recipient of the 2012 American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) Morris Collen Award.
Dr. Lorenzi was elected as President of the Medical Library Association (1982-1983). She was elected as President of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), (2004 to 2007.) She was also elected to be the Chair of the Board of AMA (2010-2011)
Dr. Lorenzi's research interests are at the intersection of people/organizational issues and informatics. Some of the topics within this sphere include understanding organizational behavior, leadership adaptability, implementation strategies and strategies for end user involvement and acceptance. She is also Director of the Implementation Sciences Laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Informatics.
Dr.Nancy Lorenzi is known nationally and internationally for her work in transformation and managing technological change in healthcare organizations.
